It is that time again. Just as you thought the holidays were over and it should be back to work as usual. I am off again on another adventure with my racing bike.
This time, I will be travelling to Arnhem, best known for the ‘A Bridge too far’ film, in the Gelderland Province of the Netherlands.
I have a couple of reasons why I am venturing east towards the German border. 1) Apart from the football, I have only visited the city once, but as in the Eindhoven story, I do not know the area very well and that will change next week. And 2) my niece and her man have had a second baby and as they only live a few kilometers outside of Arnhem. It made perfect sense to choose this trip, so I could pay them a visit and see the new baby.
So from Tuesday the 11th of August until Sunday the 16th of August, I will touring around this beautiful area. I am hoping to cross over the border into Germany as well.
There might also be a bonus, as on the Sunday if everything works out okay. I will be cycling the 144 kilometers back to Alkmaar. Fingers crossed.
The day before…
Tomorrow early I will be heading towards Arnhem in the train.
So today, I got the last of my supplies and the train tickets for myself and the bike
Thus I will be ready to rock and hope to catch the 10.15 train out of Alkmaar
It is gonna be a hot one, as we are still have tropical temperatures here in Alkmaar (>35 degrees), which means it is even warmer in the east of the country
I hope I can get some sleep tonight. I am shattered from the heat and from the gym this morning, although that was nice with the air conditioning
I am now off to pack my bag, so that I can be off early tomorrow. Probably leave the house around 9.30 and cycling relaxed to the Central Station in Alkmaar.
The theme for the next few days
I am really in the mood of another adventure. i realise I can save all my money, but I want to live now, not dream of the future.
Heading into the night, I realise it’s gonna be a warm one. Temperatures of 29 degrees in the bedroom. I hope I can get some sleep. This brings back memories of when I was living in France, but there we had air-conditioning and that did help…So all the fans aimed at my head LOL
So tomorrow a new adventure begins and I would like to thank you for joining me on this trip.
